What made you enter the UK Galaxy pageants?

I had attended Galaxy UK pageants for 4 years supporting my friends. You would find me at the back of the room, behind the photographer live streaming on periscope (before the days of Facebook/Instagram live) to friends and family that couldn’t make it to support their girl.

I fell in love with the system and decided to come out of ‘pageant retirement’ and entered Ms Galaxy UK 2019, where I placed 2nd runner up. I had such a fabulous time that I re-entered that very night and the rest was history!

What did I do to prepare for the final?

My main focus as a returning candidate was to do everything in my power to prove I was a worthy title holder. I wore my sash like it was going out of fashion! I was everywhere!!! Attending pageants up and down the country, volunteering, fundraising, discussing pageantry weekly on the UK’s first live pageant podcast, I even flew to Florida to support team UK and get a greater understanding of what Galaxy International is like. I also dedicated more time on my interview skills as I knew this was my weakest round from the year prior. And finally, I had runway training with the fabulous Maria Torres to refine and take my walk to the next level.

What is the best thing about being a Galaxy Girl?

The best thing about being a Galaxy Girl is the sisterhood. I have competed in a fair few systems in my time and nothing compares to the sense of family with Galaxy.

Who is your role model and why?

This has to be Audrey Hepburn. For me Audrey was effortlessly graceful, had timeless style, raw talent, and was incredibly quick witted. All of that aside, she was a tireless humanitarian working as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador for 38 years, that can only be admired.

What part of international Galaxy Pageants in Chicago are you most excited about?

EVERYTHING!!! There is no way I can narrow this down.

When I attended last year, I got to be an outsider watching in on all of activities. I was desperate to attend the famous white party, but this was exclusive to contestants and directors, so I’m bamboozled that this coming year I will be there!!! The PJ party, bikini photo shoot and of course walking on the famous Galaxy International stage is just iconic.

I’m super excited to meet and share this experience with my pageant sisters around the globe.

Favourite film/TV programme?

This is tough!!! My Fair Lady would take my number one spot for favourite movie…. pretty self-explanatory for anyone that has met me. Favourite TV programme would be anything that David Attenborough has put his name to, the man is a national treasure and should be protected at all costs.

Favourite food

You can’t beat a good curry….. Indian, Sri Lankan, Thai, Malaysian, Jamaican, regardless of what country is has come from, I’m a happy girl.

Favourite song

Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, it’s a masterpiece to the ears and we all love a good headbang/air guitar moment.

Favourite beauty/make-up product

Perfume, no outfit is complete without a signature scent. I personal faves are Tom Ford Neroli Portofino or Channel Coco Mademoiselle.

Dream Holiday destination

A treehouse in the Costa Rican jungle at one with nature.

Do you have any exciting plans/appearances organised for your year as a Galaxy Queen?

Absolutely! In the summer of 2021, I plan to organise the first ever Pageant Olympics! This will be a school sports day style event for pageant girls from all systems and their families.

I am also planning a ‘Beauty Queen to Bear Grylls Expedition’, after Galaxy International, think Duke of Edinburgh Award but with a side of glamping. More information to come very soon!

When you aren’t busy being a beauty queen, what do you do in your free time? Do you have any hobbies?

I’m very passionate about nature and preservation of the planet, so that brought me to become a conservation volunteer for the Lea Bridge Conservation Volunteers. We complete tasks from

the ranger in my local area the first Sunday of every month and I manage their social media.

If I have any spare time you will find me globetrotting and climbing mountains, I have a 3 peaks challenge in 24 hours in September and plans to trek to Everest Base Camp in 2021.

What advice would you give to girls who are thinking about entering the UK Galaxy Pageants?
